What Is Diode

Diode is an electronic device made of semiconductor materials (silicon, selenium, germanium, etc.). It has unidirectional conductivity, that is, when a positive voltage is applied to the diode anode, the diode is conductive. When a reverse voltage is applied to the anode and cathode, the diode turns off. Therefore, the on and off of the diode are equivalent to the on and off of the switch.

Diode is one of the earliest semiconductor devices, which is widely used. Especially in various electronic circuits, diodes are reasonably connected with resistance, capacitance, inductance and other components to form circuits with different functions, which can realize various functions such as alternating current rectification, modulation signal detection, amplitude limiting and clamping, and power supply voltage stabilization. Diodes can be found in common radio circuits, other household appliances or industrial control circuits
